So far, this weekend's looking a hell of a lot better than last weekend.

So let me ask you something. What is the most annoying kind of blog entry that I could subject you to? Besides diabetes or the goopy toe? How about the one where I say I have big news, but I can't tell you what it is? That one's a pain in the ass, isn't it?

I have big news, but I can't tell you what it is. Not just yet.

Call me superstitious. When everything's signed and legally binding, you'll be the first to know.

(Like you can't figure it out on your own.)

Your book will be published? I hope that's what it is . . .

If you think I can figure it out on my own, you give me far more credit than I deserve.

(Although I'm sure once you say it, I'll be all, "Ooohhhhh, I TOTALLY knew that.")

Best of luck.

If one connects THIS to last weekend's experiences, it suggests a certain unexpected efficacy in praying to the porcelain god.

(Hot damn! Congratulations!)

all I can say is I hope it's being published in Australia.

Congrats!

and can I just add---that when I inadvertently hit 'next blog' on top of this entry I get a link to this page:

Maybe the gal on the flag is celebrating with you too?

Might it be too early to consider the financial benefits of offering devoted, long-term readers signed copies?

Everything's crossed for the Rum-Huds up here in Canada.

I've been getting rid of books, but I'll buy it. Of course, we could be guessing wrong.

Man, whatever the news is, it better be good enough to compensate for you taking a picture of yourself talking on a cell phone. What the F is up with that? You prided yourself for not having a cell phone. Please tell me that belongs to a co-worker, and is not your own.

Yeah, you preached it once.

I don't have a cell phone.

I was told by one of my young employees that this actually makes me very cool...I think I agree.

...Mostly, I won't get one because I am in love with the idea that there are times when you just can't get me. Selfish? Perhaps. But I'm hanging onto this one good and tight, because when I finally lose this battle, and I know I will one day, I feel like a tiny little part of me that I'll really miss will die.

I remember that entry cause I didn't have a cell phone either when I read it. I've got one too now, so I guess I shouldn't give you hell.

Robert Hudson said...

Yeah, you shouldn't particularly since it's not my cell phone and I was using it to talk to my agent. Perhaps a little slack is in order.

Also, I don't want to break anyone's luddite heart here, but if my new circumstances mean that I need to get a cell phone, well, I won't be thrilled, but I'll be joining the 21st century already in progress.

I didn't have a cellphone in 2004 either. I think i subscribed to the same philosophy. something happened with my 13 year old kid that led me to suddenly realizing i needed to have one (long crazy story) so we broke down this summer and got me one.

a little slack is indeed in order. i bet about 80% of the people who didn't have cellphones in 2004 finally got around to breaking down for one reason or another and now have them.

the other 20% are unibomber wannabes.

heh.

Rob, a cell phone would likely be useful when Schuyler gets older- the text function would allow her some independence a little bit earlier, as she could text you to let you know where she is, if she needs a ride, etc.

Yay! Hurray! I really think us long term readers deserve signed copies... I mean I read the Book of Goo for cying out loud! You could quiz me...

How in the world does someone have time in their day to cross reference journal entries from years ago in an attempt to "call you out" on some (gasp!) possible inconsistencies in your life from year to year? Uh, wow. Too. Much. Time. On. Their. Hands.

Congratulations, Rob!!! No raining on this parade allowed. Hope the phone rings soon - be it cellular, cordless or rotary!! ;) Cheers!

What a time for your blog to go down. (Big white screen o' nothing at this moment.) We are all waiting with bated breath to be able to do a little distributed rejoicing on your behalf.
