That is so cool. I'm pre-ordering mine now.

Woo hoo! My pre-order has been placed. (I'm a bit tight on cash right now; the multiple copies for friends will have to wait until publication actually occurs....)

Excellent! I looked last week but it wasn't there yet. I pre-ordered mine, too!

Congrats, your fancy pants are in Canada too! Amazon.ca has you listed as does Chapters/Indigo (think Canadian Barnes & Noble), here's the link for you:

Way cool.........can't wait to read it. My son Daniel also has the same diagnosis as Schuyler. I am always checking to see what new and amazing things she is doing. Give me so much hope for Daniel.

Congrats Mr Fancy Pants!

Awesome! I, of course, will be buying mine at my Local Independent Bookstore.

I forget that not everyone checks their name and umpteen other things on Amazon every single day. I am crazy like that and a bit obsessed with Amazon, and just add everything to my wish list. Can't wait to read it!

Awesome! Can't wait to snag a copy. Congrats to you---how surreal it must feel.

I just pre-ordered it myself. How cool!!!!

I sort of see myself buying a couple at Book People and getting Rob to sign it. But this is so validating to have it on Amazon. Hey, dude. They are really publishing your book.

I just pre-ordered. :) I can't wait to read this.

Just kidding, I'll order the english version. :-)

It's on Amazon UK, too, and the big South African book site, Kalahari, where I have it on pre-order. Congrats again, Rob!

Another pre-order - and another woo-hoo!!

YAY! I can't wait to read it :)

OK, that is just too cool. You do have some fancy pants, well-deserved, I might add.

Wow, you're already #5427 in Amazon Sales. (Don't know how to translate that into actual amount of sales, but cool nonetheless.) I think that I too will join the other blogreaders who will be purchasing this at a local indy bookstore - the one on campus here is fab and they have an attached bead shoppe/gifts/music store (I can waste an afternoon there like *that*). GO ROB!

Yeah, I have no idea how the Amazon rankings work, although I don't believe it can be translated into rough sales figures, but rather volume of sales during a specific period of time. It'll go back down soon, at least for the next seven months until there's actually a book to buy. (I feel a little like Professor Harold Hill selling tubas at this point.)

Still, it's very surreal.

How cool! I checked Amazon when the book cover came out, but it wasn't listed yet. You're going to have a very large pre-order, I suspect. I just pre-ordered mine.

Robert Hudson said...

I can't believe so many of you are pe-ordering. Thank you all so much, I am really very moved by this.

Way to go Mr. fancy Pants

Hey Rob...I've been reading your journal forever...long before Schuyler was even in the picture. I've never commented but I just wanted to say that I am out here, pulling for you, and I pre-ordered on Amazon too.

You and your little girl (and wife too!) are truly amazing.

Excellent. I've pre-ordered. Thanks for the heads-up.

Hey Rob

You're currently #5,803 in the Amazon lists. That's an amazingly good number. Congratulations.

Cynthia said...

Cool! I've added you to my wish list and will definitely be stalking you for an autograph. (ok, just kidding about the stalking part)

Very fancy pants indeed!

Erin said...

Well apparently you can pre-order in Canada too! Now are you going to come to Canada on your book tour so I get my book autographed?

How incredibly cool - there's an ISBN# and everything - it's a REAL BOOK! Placing my order now!

Fabulous!! We have no money these days, but I added it to my wish list, and with any luck someone will buy it for me. :) Congratulations!

Hooray for fancy pants.

AND you made the Metafilter front page today! How exciting a week, Rob :)

Robert Hudson said...

I just noticed that! Figures, I'm working on a huge update to the book page today that's not ready to go up yet. I feel like company arrived while I was still cleaning the apartment. (Assuming I ever clean the apartment.) Very cool, though. I appreciate whoever did that.

I'm really grateful for all the attention and support we've gotten. especially over the past few months.

just pre-ordered!

Anonymous said...

Another pre-order -- but I'll probably end up with at least TWO copies when I completely forget that I did this and go and order it from our own "Toad Hall Bookstore" downtown...

Anonymous said...

The best part about the Amazon listing is that since the title says (tent.), there's all sorts of "you might be interested in this:" links to canvas tents. LOL

Congratulations!!!

Matilda said...

Congratulations!

I assume that you're insisting on this as your entrance music every time you come into a room now?

Robert Hudson said...

Wow, I never considered theme music. I have to start thinking about these things now.

Anonymous said...

OMG that must be an awesome feeling! It's on my wishlist now, too, Rob.

Another pre-order, but of course... when is it coming out? The credit card I used to pre-order expires in June of 2008. You mention 7 months, so hopefully I'm all good.

Robert Hudson said...

February 19, 2008. (Subject to change, of course...)

So your fancy pants are ready...but are you ready for your fancy pants?

Congrats and many many well wishes- you and your family are destined for great things.

blame me for the mefi. (i was actually stunned you hadn't been on there yet.)
so... what's the deal with the archives? were ya hustled?

so... what's the deal with the archives? were ya hustled?

I started to answer this question, which is a good one and something that a lot of people looking to get published are interested in. My answer started getting really long, so I think I'll finish it up and post it as an actual blog post. Look for it shortly.

Thanks for asking, and also for posting the mefi thing, that was very cool.

Unless, of course, if someone else says it bettter than me...

Congrats on this big moment!

Re Amazon sales rank - they have some algorhythm that takes into consideration recent orders and total orders - I think the put the numbers into a blender or magic 8 ball or something. I get a little spell of glee everytime my sales rank jumps, which happens right after someone orders a book (And I've never seen myself above 50K, I'd faint if I broke 10K!).

On a different note... the subtitle... do you consider Schuyler wordless? Speechless, yes, but wordless? Just trying to stir up trouble :)

Jana said...

Holy crap, you have an ISBN number!

Robert Hudson said...

On a different note... the subtitle... do you consider Schuyler wordless? Speechless, yes, but wordless? Just trying to stir up trouble :)

I could dodge the issue by saying that my publisher came up with that subtitle, but honestly, my original suggestion to them included "girl without words".

So no, it's not really accurate, but it was the best compromise conceptually, I think. "Speechless" is more accurate but carries it's own different meanings, and "quiet" certainly doesn't apply to Schuyler very often.

I'm okay with it. Creative license, etc.

I thought I'd commented here, but maybe it didn't get through.

Rob, the book is also on Amazon.co.uk, and I have pre-ordered my copy from them. Been reading since before you and your gal were even married, and happy to support you. The book better be bloody good though :P

AHAHA! The recommended additional books were all about dragons and dinosaurs. They knew!

I added it too. :)
