Two quick media moments for the scrapbook:
1) There's a story in today's Fort Worth Star-Telegram, called 'Schuyler's Monster' gives voice to family. I know I'm not exactly objective, but could that photo of Schuyler be any cuter? Also, she is kind enough to mostly cover my entirely uncute face, which I do appreciate. Trust me, you do, too.
2) I can't believe I forgot to mention this back when it ran, but I was the subject of a Quirky Nomads podcast, in which I read from an entry from this here blog o' mine. (I need to learn how to read without sounding like I'm recovering from a head injury.)

I was at the Domain in Austin last night (I know, ten minutes from my house and I'm in Dallas!) but I went into the Borders and ask the computer about books by Robert Rummel-Hudson. I was advised that his book was 'likely in the store' in Parenting. I found it upstairs in that section all right, three copies. I still haven't bought one but I flipped it open to a page that mentioned Tracy. Later I wondered why I haven't bought one and I'm waiting for the signing next Sunday. Still I'm enjoying seeing it in stores and hoping never to see it on the remainder table although that's a rite of passage, too, I guess.

I went to go buy your fancy-pants book at a Barnes & Noble in Columbus, OH and they didn't have any in stock. Boo. However, the somewhat amusing exchange was as follows:
Me: "Hi, I'm looking for a book called 'Schuyler's Monster' by Robert Rummel-Hudson. Do you have any in stock? I looked in the Parenting section and it doesn't seem to be there".
Customer Service Lady #1 (typing at computer): "Hmm...No, we don't have any in this store right now...But I'm surprised we don't have this book in, I've heard great things about it and I just saw the article in 'People', it looks really fascinating..."
Customer Service Lady #2 (peering over CSL1's shoulder): "Hmm, that's not how I would spell her name; you must be familiar with the book title."
CSL#1: "Yes, because three people have come in since the beginning of the week asking for it. Also interesting is that I read somwhere that the author's wife is employed by Barnes & Noble!"
So yay, the word is spreading! Even in podunk Ohio! I had to special-order your book, so I'm hoping that it will get to me in 3-4 business days. Good times.
Also, I got a chance to read your Wondertime article while I was in the waiting room at my neurologist's office (sometimes I feel silly that I'm 28 and still seeing my pediatric neurologist, but I'm sure that you of all people understand the importance of good doctors. No one else is touching my brain, thanks. Hee). I fought back the urge to tell everyone in the office to read it. Woo! It's all very exciting.
Congratulations! I'm so glad that your and Julie's efforts have come to fruition for all the world to see. And because it must be said, I am in mad envy of Schuyler's hair. She can rock those style/color variations like no other :)

Hope they'll consider putting this one on audio so my mom can enjoy it, too. (She's legally blind so audio books are the only way to go.)
in non book news, I was at the kite festival today. Thought about you and Schuyler. Got a photo of this dragon shaped kite that I'd be happy to send along for the kiddo.

I, too, just finished the book yesterday. It is beautifully done. I can't wait to share it with my mother, the just retired school psychologist.

Read your book yesterday, as the aunt of an 8 yo nephew that had brain surgery when he was a day old, I see alot of your story in ours. Was great to see that we are not alone in the fight with ourselves and the public school system. Keep educating the masses.
I can't stop telling people about your book! I've written about it at my disaboom blog (http://www.disaboom.com/Blogs/sweetiesmom/archive/2008/02/28/there-are-no-words.aspx) and I've referenced that post at my own blog (http://spinabifidamoms.blogspot.com/2008/03/mama-monday-131.html). I've told friends and family about it, I've told my Hubby so much about the book that our daughter now reminds me about funny parts of the book (Schuyler eats boogers/Daddy eats bug). I've been telling everyone about your book. I wrote about it on my disaboom blog, and I referenced that post at my personal blog. My daughter can quote parts of your book because I'm talking to Hubby about it so much (she loves the Schuyler eats boogers/Daddy eats bugs part). And Schuyler's Monster will be my pick when it's my turn to choose a book club book. Great job - congratulations!
We made a trip to Central Market and BookStop (a Barnes and Noble store without the coffee shop, music, etc.) and I told my husband that I was just going to buy the book and read it before Sunday. He was looking for Jenna Bush's book (really...he's trying to get her to do a PR thing for a charity I think) so he asked about The Monster. He found me looking at new nonfiction. He was holding Jenna's book. "They had one copy of 'Schuyler's Monster'," he said. But they sold it.
Hey, we are all doing our part to create buzz! I'm going to be close to the Arboretum today and I'm going to pick up a copy.

I haven't seen you mention this but this weekend I was at my mom's house and happened to thumb through the feb 2008 issue of Good Housekeeping, when I saw that they had published three of your journal entries--why they didn't do a book excerpt... I dunno.
