All of us parents are winging it and there's no way of knowing what's the perfect thing to do. Luckily we all get more points for thinking, caring, and loving than anything else. That's what I tell myself anyway.
I bought socks and underwear for my older boy at Gap Kids this afternoon and saw "Jasper" sitting on the shelf behind the check-out lady. Made me grin to see him there!
What a great picture! :) Schuyler looks like she's gotten some energy back- I hope she's feeling all better now...and I'm sure Jasper 2.0 will do all he can to help. RIP, Jasper #1!
I've done something similar myself. Zip the cat just disappeared. I desperately bid on his replacement on e-bay, and then he re-appeared from under a bucket on a bookshelf (I should have given that bucket a suspicious look, but I didn't :-). Meanwhile, two bids I had put in on e-bay, hoping to get one cat both won. Now there are three of him (the one at my parents' house looks much shinier and newer). They used to be Zip 1, Zip 2, and Zip 3. Now, a couple years later, they are all just Zip. All the same cat, as we play with whichever one of them is close at hand, even though they can now be easily told apart.

Whew!
She looks like she's feeling better too.
Whew indeed! Whether it was "right" or not, Rob, it's was a sweet gesture. She's still a little girl, and you're her daddy. 'Nuff said
Lucky you. Lucky Schuyler. :-)
And it's just possible that Schuyler noticed the damage, felt responsible and couldn't believe her luck that Jasper was healed.
I agree with the folks who say you get bonus Dad points for caring.
And I had just read about Jasper in the book, too. Bad Dog!
Good daddy, that's all.
Sweetest photo ever.
How sweet of you! And the picture is fantastic. Awww… = )
Or she's humoring you. :-P

What a great picture. The best picture ever.
Whether she noticed or not...she bought into it. Great dads can do anything.

Hey, as long as she's happy with him, that's all that matters.

thank you sometime I think my wife and I are the only parents that do this...
To explain my eldest daughter has her stuffed pal Peter Rabbit. Sadly the toy is no longer made.
What she doesn't know yet is that there are three Peter Rabits in the house that switch off duty as it were.
We've been tempted to install a punch clock for them like the old Warner Bros. cartoons. :-)
