So, guess what the FedEx guy brought today?
I guess this is really happening. Either that, or someone went to a lot of trouble to tool me, printing up one copy of a book.
Nineteen days...
(By the way, I also wrote an article called "My Name is Schuyler" for the February issue of "Communication Without Limit", the monthly newsletter for the Prentke Romich Company, makers of the Big Box of Words.)

Can't wait, Rob.
Pre-ordered mine way-back-when from Amazon.co.uk, so remember to include links to that for people over here (or even in Australasia - superfast deliver to the Antipodes from the UK) when you put in Amazon.com ones :)
So very cool!!! I got chills seeing you hold the book!
Anxiously awaiting the
fed ex/ups/usps person to deliver my copies!!!
Many heartfelt congratulations.....

I can't wait! I remember when it seemed sooooooo far away. 2008?!?! Here we are! Congratulations.
Geesh...stop making me cry already! I was fine until I got to the "Schuyler's Monster has a leash" ending. That made me teary.
I didn't know I could be so proud of a kid I don't even know!
Pretty book, btw.
I'm truly psyched.
Whoa. It is unbelievable cool that the cover image appears on the spine of the book. How does that happen? Is it a special marketing decision? That photo is profoundly communicative--do you think that's why the publisher made that decision?
Tool me = phrase that only a true Interlochen-er can appreciate. Thanks for bringing me back with those two words. Oh - Congrats on the book, too! Can't wait to read it!
Oh Rob, that has to be such an awesome feeling!
I was trying to go back through your archives and find when, exactly, you decided to really go through with this (publishing)..but I am not able to pin point it. If you get a chance, would love to be pointed in the right direction!
Congrats!
Just pre-ordered; can't wait to read it.
However, I was intrigued by the suggestions Amazon made after I placed my order:
"Other items you might enjoy:
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life, by Barbara Kingsolver
Middlesex: A Novel, by Jeffrey Eugenides"
Apparently, you're right smack in the middle of the back-to-the-land, slow-change-of-seasons, incest-hermaphroditism-sex-change genre. If you moved to France, you could write "A Year in Provence With The Big Box of Words" and really have a hit.
I haven't been keeping up as well as I should but I knew it had to be close to book time!!
Is there possibly some sort of book signing tour thing? (can you tell I'm an intellectual??) Namely anything in Austin?
Ever decide on that 2nd tattoo?
~Stephanie, your Andrew Bird loving, tattooed friend.
Awesome! Congratulations!
So many people do not see the good stories in life, too many times all you see on the news is death and destruction and never the good, happy stories of the strong personalities out there. Whether rebuilding a country or a life, coming back is never easy, I look forward to reading the complete story.
Remember, never give up.
EEEK!!! i'm so excited!! i've been reading your stuff for so long now, and i am over the moon that the book is finally (almost) here! i can't wait to get my copy and to meet you during the book tour!! (if you can't tell, i obviously love exclamation points!!!)

Don't forget the pairing of Schuyler's Monster with Amy Winehouse? I am still stumped by that pairing. Petite woman with ginormous beehive and unfortunate drug addict and my husband and daughter. Interesting.
WOOOOOOO!
That is all.
Yaaaay! Congrats on your book being finally a Real Live Book you can hold in your hands! Can't wait to read it :)
Awesome. I'm so excited! Congratulations!
I'm too young to have a credit card, so I can't order online, but I plan to get out to a bookstore in eighteen days (so soon!). The homework will just have to wait. = )
How exciting!! I can't wait to read it, even though i totally don't have time to read outside of classes!
And Kevin Keith--I believe I know why that happened.
Both of those are books I own, and bought/marked off on amazon.com...perhaps I have something to do with amazon's bizarre recommendations! If it was me and a few other people who owned them, one or both, I could see how it could happen.
So what's this about public radio?? And where can those of us outside the Metroplex listen to you? Please say you're appearing on All Things Considered...
No, it's a different show, and it's not a for sure thing yet. But I'll definitely let you know when it firms up. I'm pretty jazzed about it.
I would've sued their dumb asses for turning off her BBoW, & used the money to move away. That bit just infuriates me.
Hey Julie. Nice to see you here.
Even though I only recently became aware of your journey, I just wanted to say I'm so proud of you Rob for taking this to the next level and bravely stepping out onto what really is no less than "the world stage". Just be yourself Rob and you'll do great!
It must be mind-boggling to think of all the lives you are about to touch (and all the lives you have touched already). I'm looking forward to reading your book. Before you know it, we'll be watching you on "Oprah", I have a feeling... ;-)

Rob, one more thing I wanted to add and you probably know this already...yes, you are going to touch the hearts of a lot of people. But you know what, you are going to touch those hearts one person at a time, and when you think of it that way, it's not quite so mind-boggling or even intimidating to be on the so-called "world stage".
Even if you do make it to "Oprah" (and I really think you have a good shot at that), you will be talking to the heart of each person in that global audience one at a time, as if you and that person are the only ones in the room. Will that help make it any easier?

You book-sniffer, you. ;-) I can't wait to have a book of my very own to sniff, and cuddle, and call it George.
Squee!
This is full of win.
Rob: I'm a teacher from Georgia for kids with severe and profound intellectual disabilities. I can't wait to tell my student's Mom about this book -- her daughter has profound case of PMG and the whole family suffers greatly. Can't wait to read your blog more thoroughly and get the book.
