Dancing away the monster

Excerpt: "Ballerina dreams: A True Story"

Make sure you watch the video, which is the story that ran on The Today Show this morning and turned me into a big weepy girl before I'd even had breakfast.

(Yes, I watch The Today Show, Dr. Judgey McTelevisionsnob.)

I missed the show this morning, thanks for the link...its a lovely story. I can only hope and pray my daughter will have the same opportunities when she is a little older (shes 16 months with CP)

I missed this too, so thank you. I don't know why I didn't get a tissue before I started the video. Two minutes into it, my eyes were so full of tears I couldn't see the video anymore.

Thank you for this.

My daughter is almost four. She uses braces and a walker to get around. She is also obsessed with princesses and fairies and ballerinas. She went to a ballet last spring that was a hour and a half long, and she never once got antsy. She cannot wait to see the Nutcracker next month.

If I could, I would move to Queens tomorrow so she could be in that class. I was going to say that I know it's hard to understand, but I guess it isn't for you. I am going to go and dry my face off now. You needed to be more firm with the tissue warning.

You could always say that you watch The Today Show, Oprah, et al, as market research.

That's it, that's EXACTLY why I watch. Thank you.

(Whew!)

How does one get on Oprah? You should do that, don't you think?

Thank you. My daughter has cp, is 8 years old, and is a princess, at least in her own mind. She loved the video and we had to watch it twice. Sometimes I wonder why I go to the lengths I do, to do what I do for her, and this reminded me why. Not one of those little girls were frowning. Those smiles make it all worth while!

I read an article in the NYT a couple of years ago about this program and I remember crying THEN. I want to try to find someone who will start a program for kids in my area...maybe gymnastics for co-ed. This was very moving. Thanks, Rob.
