Schuyler

Living our lives in such a public way, even before the book, has occasionally led to some interesting and unique experiences, mostly centering around Schuyler. She gets to people, she emotionally affects people out there who never meet her except through my writing, and they express that connection in a variety of artistic ways. I can't even begin to tell you just how cool that can be.

Now, for the first time that I'm aware of, Schuyler is a doll, with a tiny little Big Box of Words. This was a total surprise -- I didn't know about it until someone sent me the link -- and one that we thought was absolutely great.

I haven't had a chance to show Schuyler that page yet. Her little head is going to explode when I do.

I always thought she was a doll. ;)

What a great tribute! And it couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

wow. if my head just exploded (which it did) i cannot imagine what will be happening to schuyler's.

best ... tribute... ever.

she needs some pink chucks and a "no comment" tshirt though, to make it perfect.

That rocks! I know that your family's story has affected me deeply, and made me a better person for having heard it. It's nice to see I'm not the only one.

Seeing how sweet people can be always makes my day. I hope she loves it!

I was thinking the same thing! Pink chucks and it's perfect.

Yes, yes, but where's the Rob action figure? With removable beard and anti-stupid blaster...

Like so many things about having a public you don't always know is out there...awesome and slightly creepy. But I noticed that one of the doll maker's comments was from someone who was thrilled to see a doll depicted with a communication device...which she hopes her child can get.

That's so cool.

As the dollmaker I was a little worried that "little Schuyler" would be taken the wrong way. It does seem a little creepy. Honestly, though, it wasn't meant to be.

She was just a really fun subject, so pretty and full of life. And I really like the idea of a special needs doll. Who really can identify with Barbie anyway?

Rob, if Schuyler likes the doll, she's welcome to have it.

(takes another look) The pink Chucks are there, actually.

So Rob, do tell. What did she think?

Ha! That's WONDERFUL. And yeah, she needs some fierce pink accessories like Hello Kitty katana or something along those lines.

Good Lord. I can't believe I actually suggested Hello Kitty katana. Bu I'm sick, so that's my excuse!

Wpw, that's very cool of you! Can you imagine how full of herself she'd get? Drop me an email and we can talk about it!

Actually, my thought when I saw that was "I think I may want one of those myself."
