Monday means a new post at
Support for Special Needs. Schuyler went to the American Girl store over the weekend. I should have seen what was going to happen, but sometimes my hope for Schuyler's happiness blinds me to the dangers of the world, even when the danger
IS her happiness.

It's definitely something very hard to deal with. Schuyler doesn't deserve this :(
Balance is also difficult for me. Go somewhere and risk a seizure because of the different lighting and the stress or stay home? There's no easy answer.

I didn't know if you knew them or would be browsing Jonah's auction yourself, but they have some homemade american girl doll clothing...this may be out of line (I hope not) but thought it might be awesome for Sky to have some new clothing that benefits a great cause, without the stress of returning to the store.

I agree with a posting from the article, contact the store and see if you can visit at an alternative time or maybe find a local trunk or craft show that sells AG clothing (I know a local kids toy store here has an AG trunk show to sell AG material every few months...much smaller than the stores!. Many local craft shows also have booths with homeade AG clothes.
(n I know our local theaters do Special Needs showings with alternate volume/lighting/etc).
Also, I dont know if this is relevant for Schuyler, but I worked with a student that wore tinted glasses to help prevent/reduce seizures from the schools flourescent lighting. It did seem to help him. (they were rose-ish colored). Maybe that could help in situations with lots of non-natural lights?
