In recent years, I've found myself getting caught up in exactly how unprepared the world really is for our kids, and how ugly the result can be. It's easy to forget. It's easy to become so insulated in our everyday lives as parents and so infatuated with our own beautiful children that we forget that to much of the outside world, these kids are simply perceived as being... less.
Schuyler is my weird and wonderful monster-slayer. Together we have many adventures.

On the Word

You know, at work I've been made fun of a little whenever I'd say "That's not a very nice word" or "I don't like that word." when they say "retarded" They might make fun of me, but the word has been used about 75% less. I'd rather 100%, but I'll take 75.
I'm sure you've already been bombarded by this information, but here it is again anyway. I heard it on the way in to work today and of course instantly thought of Schuyler.
