It's Monday, which means I'm about to make excuses for not posting anything since LAST Monday. This week's excuse is a little better than usual; I got a massive sinus infection at the same time that my tenacious lung funk made its Big Push to end the war. The doctor said I probably have pneumonia and wanted me to go to the hospital, but I managed to talk my way out of that fun idea. We'll see how smart that plan turns out to be.
Anyway, there's a new post up at Support for Special Needs. And while I like to think you're actually reading all the posts I write over there ("Another click? Screw this, my hand hurts…"), I hope you'll make a special effort to go see this one. Not because it's unusually wonderful or important, but because it feels personal and a little raw for me. I guess I just want you to read this one a little more than usual.

That's a healing wing hug. It seems like you need it more than Schuyler just now.
I read everything you write on both sites, but today's post over there (points) is a special kind of amazing. I am so very sorry that Schuyler has a post-ictal cross to bear, and so you and Julie do as well. But I'm grateful for how well you describe the indescribable, giving us a picture of what is in Schuyler's head (and yours, both literally and figuratively).
We suspect my son is having similar seizures in his sleep (and maybe awake as well but he is very low functioning so it is hard to tell) WHen he is asleep he goes into this mouth moving mode and lately he has started to foam. He had an abnormal EEG but unless we do the more detailed inpatient eeg the neurologist says we can't know for sure. Right now he has asked us to try to video tape the episodes but so far they haven't happened when one of us is awake to see. I think one of us may have to pull an all nighter soon.
That's OK, I've been getting sick Friday after work and recovering on Monday morning for the last 3 weeks, it could at least extend into the week so I can stay home from work, but no, not happening.
Thank you for posting this, Rob. Schuyler continues to inspire me and kick me in the ass. My heart breaks for her while at the same time, I stand in western Massachusetts and cheer her on.
Someone else who stands many miles away and cheers Schuyler, and thinks more and more often how lucky she is to have the parents she does.
(I am having "digital Alzheimers these days, with my fingers often typing words they were not intended to type. I originally wrote that I stand many miles away and cheese Schuyler...thought you might get a chuckle out of that)
When I got pneumonia, I beat it with a humidifier, Arizona brand watermelon drink, antibiotics and an inhaler. I really think the key item was the humidifier though. I couldn't sleep without it period. If you can get one I would highly recommend it. I hope Julie and Sch. don't catch it from you. It's a misery!!
I'm usually pretty eloquent, but all I seem to get when I read this kind of post is "shit." Insofar as any of us that have never met her can love Schuyler, she's like family to us - and we all want to kick the shit out of something, too. More than that, you have a whole lot of people standing there with you, our hearts breaking that we can't help.
Beautiful post, and I'm so sorry that Schuyler's having to deal with these seizures. As one of her many, many cheerleaders, I identify with kristib, above: it makes me want to kick the shit out of something. And pneumonia too! Fuck, man. Feel better.
