Talking boxes on the tee-vee!

For those of you interested in AAC technology and the world of people like Schuyler, Samuel Sennott and his brilliant AAC app Proloquo2Go will be featured on The Doctors tomorrow (Friday, April 23).

The program deals specifically with autism, so there's sure to be lots of crazy talk and fighting and people throwing chairs at each other over vaccinations and gluten and alien abductions and all that.

Okay, well, probably not. But I'd watch that show for sure.

hmmm...might have to tune in even though that Travis Stork dude drives me nuts.

HAHAHAHAH Actually, there might be a few chairs thrown. That depends on if the journey into Autismland detours into Crazytown.

And for some reason, I would guess that the show the Doctors might like a few chairs thrown.

I am an SLP at an elementary school. One of my students just started using the Proloquo2Go app in place of the Dynavox Palmtop. I am not sure if it will be the right device for him in the long haul, but he prefers it to the Dynavox. In terms of size and money, I definitely prefer it as well.

I'm so excited for this technology. I think it will revolutionize the industry. My daughter uses the Dynavox V. Insurance paid for it, but to keep it under warranty in case it gets broken at school (like our last device) costs almost $600 a year. The costs are outrageous and out of reach of so many. Thanks for letting people know about the show, and Proloquo2Go.

I didn't know which blog post to write to, so I picked your most recent.
I found your book at the library misfiled in the pregnancy section where I was hunting for a book since we are trying to get pregnant. I picked it up and put it back twice thinking I would never have time to read it with a toddler running around. The little face on the front of the book called to me and put it in the bag, on top of angelina ballerina and curious george books. Well with daddy's help, I read your book in a record 2 days. I have never laughed and cried so hard reading a book in my life. I think I will re-read this book in the future after I have suggested it to everyone I know. It has been an eye opening look into your life, and the life of your daughter. I wanted to let you know that your book met me at a marked time in my life where everything is about to change, and I am scared shitless about the future but can't wait for it to get here. You humor in serious situations rocked me off my feet and sent my mind elsewhere. I thank you for that. I know it wasn't your intention, but it has helped me, as well. I am so happy that your daughter is doing well with her "box" and I plan on following your blog from here on out.
THank you again!

A friend of mine bought her son an iPad with Proloquo2Go installed and it is fantastic. And it is affordable! There are so many apps that can be used along with it. It can also be used on the iTouch.

Is this similar to the tap 2 talk app?
