  1. ooooh, look at you, right between Condi and Charles Schulz!

  2. Well, Schuyler is waaaaay cuter than Condi! It almost looks like Schuyler is laughing at Condi, too. Heh, heh.

Interesting that they put it under biography and not parenting. Does one get more "exposure" than the other?

I think it depends on the bookstore, but in general, I think Biography will be a better place for it, assuming that's where it will actually end up. Parenting can be sort of a bookstore ghetto, although not so much in recent years.

  4. Man, I do NOT like the way Condi's looking at Schuyler. But Schuyler can totally take her.

This is why I'm holding out until I can get to a city where there are Barnes and Noble. Totally.

So if it's in stores already, then not as much with the 2-19 date?

There are exceptions with strict on sale dates (think Harry Potter, Stephen King, etc.), but most books sort of sneak out early in some places but not others. For example, the last time I looked, amazon and bn.com still listed it as a pre-order. On the 19th, that should officially change in all venues.

  12. Yowza! Congratulations, Rob.

Walking that fine biographical line between secretaries-of-state and hapless cartoon bald kids...way to go, Rob!

  13. The juxtaposition of the books is making me chuckle.

I'll have to scope out my local B&N to see if it's there yet. What about Borders? Are they going to be carrying it, too?

Oh, my word! Amazing and wonderful! Man, Rob, does this seem like a dream to you? I don't even know you...just have lurked and read for a long while...and yet I want to go down to B&N, stand in front of the books, and say loudly, "I know him! His daughter is amazing!"

You, Julie, and Schuyler must be having a blast with this!

The day has come! Wow! Way to Go! Everything I write sounds so silly compared to the way I feel. Just...YaY!

  16. Hoping Amazon will come thru early too. We have no B&N here and I haven't checked Borders yet. Congratulations. You are officially an author.

  17. Do you have a flier-ish sort of thing I could hang in my office? I'm a speech-language pathologist and have some parents who could benefit from reading your book. I actually thought about printing out the amazon page, but if you have something already available, that would be great!!

  18. There's some stuff on the Media Kit page of the website, but give me a day or two and I'll make something that looks nice to put up as well. Email me if you want more details!

Makes me wish I hadn't pre-ordered.....I want to go to my B&N and get a copy NOW! ;-) Oh well, maybe this will mean Amazon will ship early?!?

    One can hope!

This is just so amazing.....and well deserved. Enjoy the moment, Rob!

I am totally planning on going to my local bookstore and taking a picture of the book on the shelf and sending it to you. Woot!

  22. I am so very thrilled for you. Can't wait to read it.

  23. Congrats on getting your book on the shelves! I am a new reader to your blog. You and your family are an inspiration to all!

Too cool! If I get off the prairie this weekend, I am heading right for B&N!

  26. Congratulations to you, Rob! I can't wait to read it. I know it's going to be a BIG hit and you and Schuyler are going to have to dodge the paparazzi. :)

That's so amazing. Someone else mentioned above that they've been lurking for a long time, but still want to go to the bookstore and tell everyone they know you. I've been "lurking" for 9+ years now... how about me? Could I get away with playing the, "Dude! I know this guy!" game? :)

Congratulations again. Here's to hoping for amazing things to come!

Completely awesome. And as a former bookstore type, I agree that Biography will definitely get you better visibility than Parenting. At least they didn't stick you in Self Help. There's an ick that collects over in that section, and I can't bring myself to go near it.

You will be stalked on the 23rd. Look for the giant toddler with the giant father and his incongruously normal-sized wife.

And congratulations. You've worked hard for this, I'm glad you're getting your comeuppance. The good kind.

  29. Yay!!! How exciting to finally see your book on the shelf.

Yeah, I wondered about the biography class too...I sometimes think that B&N has an odd way of categorizing certain things. For example, I was looking for a book on becoming a single mother, and found it under...relationships. No joke. Right near Dating for Dummies. Seems to me that parenting/pregnancy would have made more sense in that case.

    Huzzah!!

I am calling B&N here in the TC rightthisverymoment and if it's in, I'm putting a copy on reserve, and shall hie myself thither post-haste.

    Congrats!!

  31. Congrats! I'm reading that Schulz book and I think I've been reading it for 17 years. No matter how much I read, I'm still only halfway done. When I finish, I'll get yours!

  32. My receiving manager at the store yelled and hooted when the book arrived into the store on Monday. Hope to see all of you who can attend on Friday night or Saturday afternoon!

  33. So hope that the newark airport has a bookshop that's carrying your book. As hubby is flying back tomorrow and he has been given instructions to look for it and for the good housekeeping mag if it's still on the racks.

Just bought it. Borders had a copy on the shelf here in Atlanta. Love the glossy letters on the cover; they really catch your eye, aside from Schuyler, of course.

Look! LOOK LOOK! Dude. Your book is like... RIGHT THERE.

    Huge congratulations Rob and Julie.
