The best job ever

Seriously. Getting to chase kids around the museum? I'd only require the assistance of someone to keep me from slipping in the little pee puddles left behind.

Also? I'd be Schuyler's hero. For life.

(My apologies if you came here looking for political content. If it makes you feel better, you can pretend it's John McCain at a campaign stop.)

That was wicked awesome. It would have scared the shit out of my kids and they would be in therapy for life, but still pretty cool.

  2. that is fantastic. I love the cameraman saying "c'mon, eat one!"- any idea where that was taken?

  3. LOL...very good.

Actually your post has more political content than a McCain campaign stop.

  8. They obviously must have fed it; otherwise those kids would have been lunch meat.

In all seriousness, do you know where that was? How the heck did they do that? I was thinking that it was CGI at first, then some sort of animatronic thing. Now I'm not sure.

  9. Okay, somebody pointed out that there are human feet under it - I kinda missed that.

I would definitely have left one of the pee puddles - certainly in my childhood and potentially in adulthood.

I actually worked here up until about a month ago. One of our curators unearthed a T-rex in Montana (which has turned out to be the most complete teenage T-rex skeleton ever found).

The museum decided to put a working lab in one of the exhibition halls and then one of the staff members suggested adding these walking dinosaurs. So while you're standing there watching a scientist dig a femur out of the dirt, along comes a this T-rex behind you.

These dinosaurs are full body puppets created by a company called Erth. There is another dinosaur puppet that is fully enclosed and one of the moms wrote to us, convinced it was real and that the dinosaurs were no longer extinct.

Seeing the kids react to these puppets was the highlight of my day. I have to say, even as an adult who saw the people climb inside and suit up, there was something about having that T-rex spin around and charge at you that put me a little more in touch with my mortality... :)
