A number of you have written to me to let me know about this, which is coming to Dallas at the end of the month. I saw a commercial for it on television this morning, and it looks amazing, in a "watch Schuyler's head explode" kind of way.
Tickets are not cheap, and this is one of those things that I suspect is much more effective when you're not sitting in the nosebleed seats. I'm trying to decide if we can afford this, especially coming off a no-doubt expensive trip to New York, but I suspect I'd kick myself for the rest of my life if I didn't take Schuyler to this, with her dinosaur love.
I mean, come on. Look at that.

UPDATE: We're going, woo!
When I showed Schuyler the video, her eyes got huge.
"Are they scary?" I asked.
"Yeah," she answered.
"Do you want to go see them in person?"
"Yeah!"
She's a thrill junkie.
you are right, I watched the clips, her head is just going to explode! You have to take her, there is no choice.
ReplyDeleteGo to the site and check out the Friday (10/26?) 10:30am matinee. All the seats are $20 instead of $80 and you don't have to be part o a school to buy those tickets. If you're okay with pulling Schuyler out of school for a morning, that would be the affordable way to do it.
ReplyDeleteUgh! That would be the perfect solution, except we'll be in NYC until the 27th.
ReplyDeleteWell I'd say just charge the tickets to a credit card, once that book is available, your head will be the one exploding with all the sales! I know authors don't necessarily get rich quick, but I predict you'll have a little extra spending money :-)
ReplyDeleteI am taking my uber!nerd nephew to the one in Milwaukee in December (I got the middle-tier seats, as my heart almost stopped when I initially saw the amount for 3 of the best-seating tickets, what with the enormous ticketmaster fees piled on). I so hope that you and Schuyler do get to go!
ReplyDeleteOne word: AWESOME. Also, FABULOUS. Oh, and Schuyler would barely be able to contain herself! Wow. That was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteActually, you and Julie will get almost as big of a kick out of it as Schuyler. Her thrill will be something you both remember for a long, long time. And so yes, it's worth it.
ReplyDeletethat is amazing...now I want to go.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how much is too much for you guys, but the mid-price tickets seem to be relatively good, from a quick ticketmaster search. true, it would be over $100 for 2 tickets, and I suppose you'd all 3 want to go...but it's a far cry from the $80 seats. they're not the uber-cheap seats, which I agree, could be hard to see from, at least in the same way.
if you can't do it, though, I bet Schulyer will still be amazed from her NYC trip and the cool stuff you're going to see there.
So cool! Just like the hot air balloon festival! You guys semm to get all the cool stuff in Texas.
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly new here but already I know that you can hardly afford not to! The people I've spoken with who've gone were blown away.
ReplyDeleteOh my god. Yes, please!
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly, your local paper or news stations will have contests to win tickets to the show. Our paper is holind a drawing contest and the highest vote getter in each age category wins 4 front-row seats. My dinosaur loving daughter is 6 and submitted her drawing, but she up against some stiff competition...
ReplyDeleteBTW, if anyone would like to vote for my daughter's chance to win tickets, please go vote here today!

It's picture #72 and her name - Katie Parsons - is written on the front. I ;looks a little like a duck, but it's supposed to be a brachiosaurus!
I should post this in the entry, but a very cool person bought us tickets! I'm not sure how public she wants her generosity to be made, but we were thrilled and grateful.
ReplyDeleteAwesome about the tickets! What a wonderful thing for that person to do!

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad someone got you tickets, God bless her. I'm thrilled especially for Schuyler. Let us know how it all went.
That's incredible. You guys are going to have so much fun--I can't wait to hear about it. Maybe Schuyler can blog about her experience.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, secret benefactor. Nice work!
Just finished reading your book. I was impressed with the courage that your family has in fighting the doctors and the schools. As a special education teacher, I was appalled that the staff at Schuyler's school were so closed minded in helping her. I want you to know there are alot of us who are not like that. I for one would learn all I could to help a child if I didn't have the knowledge to do so. Also as a parent of a special needs child, I know how hard it is to fight for what your child needs. Keep up the strength. For Schuyler, the sky is her limit.
